Love met nine month old baby Theo and his four year old sister, Issy. Together with their mother, my dear friend, Amanda, we shared a morning tea comprised of fresh mint tea and pink milkshakes made with sweet strawberries and served in glass milk bottles. Issy pulled the soft, steaming centre from a freshly baked bun and smeared it with creamy butter as Amanda and I chatted about plans for the future and possible future study options. Should she study pharmacy? Should I pursue photography more seriously? There was a lot to ponder on a warm summer's morning. Theo and Issy's father, Nic, left for work and Byron and I took turns playing with Love and Amanda's babies.
There was no talk of hospital stays, or birth stories. It was all very new, with discussions based on the present and future and that was very refreshing. There's a lot to be said for taking the time to connect with friends, especially those with babies.
